Modern Warfare purchasers are still able to play their game, but it's almost as though it's become a add-on of sorts to Warzone rather than the other way around. It's unusual that a free-to-play game would completely overtake something that players paid money for, but there's thankfully no actual change to what's available in-game. As spotted by PC Gamer, anyone who loads up Activision Blizzard's PC gaming destination will now see that Warzone has completely replaced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare under the "Partner Games" tab, even for those who have purchased and own the full version of the mainline game. So, in that way, it does make sense that Warzone would be the game that Activision wants to promote on the launcher.
There's no sign that Warzone will slow down anytime soon, meaning that big changes will likely come to future games to accommodate the always-online experience.
